Forgetting surge protection in a lightning belt. A single storm can take out an unprotected control room worth of fixtures. In ASEAN, 10kV surge protection is not a premium option; it is the minimum sensible spec.
Assuming 220V everywhere. The Philippines and parts of Indonesia use 110V/60Hz in older buildings and residential areas. Wide-input (100–277V) drivers avoid an entire class of field failures — and a class of warranty disputes.
Underspecifying coastal corrosion. Buyers happily specify IP66 and forget that a fixture 500m from the sea will fail from corrosion even if it never gets wet. Specify ISO 9227 salt-spray hours and SS304/SS316 hardware explicitly.
Treating certification as the importer's problem. When SNI or TISI is required and nobody started the process until the container arrived, the project loses 6–10 weeks. Certification is a procurement task with a critical path; put it on the timeline in week one.
